GRIPS Welcome Party !

Yesterday, everyone gathered after class to celebrate GRIPS's Welcome Party!

I was happy that our first collaboration with the Japanese Student Council was a great success!

The Thai ladies cajoled people from the floor to join their traditional Thai dance. :)

This cake eating activity was the funniest of them all! Basically, there's someone hiding in the back and would have to use his hands to feed the person in front when he basically can't see a thing!! Cakes were smeared all over their faces... hahaha...

My encouraging African friend Caroline was trying to tell me that my singing was not as bad as I had thought. Hee.

Nan & me.

The Indonesians rocked the house with their wonderfully melodious folk songs and energetic dances.

The friendly staff of the GRIPS Student Office. Always smiling and willing to extend a helping hand. I like them alot.

I'm not sure what Asdaq is doing here...

My favorite Professor!;)

Almagul, my first Kazakstan friend who stays on my floor. Tomorrow, we are going to don the kimono together!

The professors here are very fun-loving!

Marat wows the audience with his soulful voice, singing a love song in Kyrgyz.

Well, it was really my 'brilliant' idea to end the night with a Japanese song sang by us international students. And I thought SMAP's Sekai ni Hitosudakeno Hana was perfect -- but it turned out that we all forgot most of the lyrics when dancing in front of the audience. But hey, we gave it our best shot !

There are so many activities lined up in the weeks to come. My lovely aunt & cousin Ching would be coming to Tokyo for a holiday soon; it would be a great opportunity to catch up and share my new life with them. When I was in Sydney last year, Ching was there too... I'm truly glad we can share some time together again this year, in a different country this time.

Lastly, Christmas is coming soon!;)
